A Fresh Start for all of us this Fall
As we step into the captivating season of Fall, it’s a time to reflect on our well-being and give importance to self-care. In our previous newsletter, we explored the concept of burnout and its significant impact on our lives. Now, more than ever, we have the chance to reclaim our time and find comfort in stillness, a practice that is crucial for our overall well-being.
Be encouraged to learn the art of stopping. In a society that glorifies constant busyness, it is imperative to set boundaries and carve out time for ourselves. Allow yourself the luxury of pressing pause, even if it’s just for a few moments each day. By doing so, you will not only replenish your energy stores but also create space for clarity and creativity to flourish.
Thank you to all who responded with your stories and for seeing yourselves able to work through so many of life’s challenges. Hopefully, this Fall will introduce a new opportunity to step back and approach this season very differently, allowing each of you to experience more success.
Looking to a season of healing and recovery…
As we bid farewell to the lazy days of summer, we find ourselves on the brink of a new season—the enchanting arrival of fall. With great anticipation and excitement, we can embrace the vibrant energy that autumn brings, the beauty of the changing leaves, and the opportunities for growth and renewal.
With the changing of the seasons, we are presented with a remarkable opportunity for growth and renewal. Just as the trees shed their leaves, we, too, can let go of any stagnant energy to pave the way for fresh beginnings. Fall serves as a gentle reminder that change is a natural part of life and that with each transition comes the chance to embark on new adventures, set new goals, and uncover new possibilities. Let’s embrace this opportunity and set new goals, ready to conquer the challenges ahead.
So, what makes this fall different from the last? The answer lies within each one of us. We have the power to make this season one of personal and professional transformative growth. Whether it’s embarking on a new hobby, reevaluating our priorities, or simply taking time for self-care, this fall is an opportunity for rediscovery, reinvention, and the chance to uncover new aspects of ourselves.
As the days become shorter and the air grows crisper, let us take a moment to reflect on the goals we set at the beginning of the year. Let us reassess our progress and redirect our efforts toward accomplishing what truly matters to us. This fall, we have the chance to push ourselves beyond our comfort zones and step into a new chapter of our lives.
Moreover, this season brings with it a multitude of celebrations and festivities. From the brilliant colors of falling leaves to the warm aroma of backyard firepits, fall presents countless opportunities to reconnect with loved ones and cherish the beauty of life. Let us not forget to slow down, savor the small moments, and express gratitude for the blessings that surround us.
As we bid farewell to summer and welcome the arrival of fall, let us embrace change, seek new opportunities for growth, and celebrate the beauty of this magnificent season. Together, we can make this fall a season of transformation, where we come closer to realizing our true potential and creating a life filled with purpose and joy.
Wishing you a fruitful and inspiring autumn ahead.
Warm regards,
Dr. Rick
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV) tells us, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” This passage encourages us to focus on our spiritual journey and the future God has in store for us rather than clinging to past hurts or failed relationships.
QUIZ: How Well Do You Care for Yourself During Difficult Times?
We all go through challenging times at various points in life—whether it’s a health crisis, the end of a relationship, job loss, financial difficulties or the death of a loved one. To cope with such difficult times, self-care is vital but, too often, we are hard on ourselves instead. Answer these true/false questions to discover how well you support yourself during difficult times.
True or False?
Set 1
1. Although it doesn’t really help, when I’m facing something difficult, I often self-soothe by over-indulging in food and alcohol.
2. During tough times, I get caught up in “putting out fires,” and self-care goes out the window.
3. It’s easy for me to mentally spin out of control with worry and worst-case-scenario thinking.
4. I can’t face my friends and family when things aren’t going well; I tend to isolate.
5. Shame and blame take over when I’m facing a difficult situation; I either feel it’s my fault or someone else’s.
6. During hard times, I get scared and feel immobilized and depressed.
7. I can’t understand why bad things happen to good people; it’s not fair.
8. In the midst of bad times, I lose perspective and have a hard time trusting that things will get better.
Set 2
1. No matter what’s going on, I’m committed to staying on track with my self-care routines.
2. Caring for myself includes asking for and receiving support from people who love and care about me.
3. I share my feelings and what’s going on with people I trust.
4. I have tools to help keep myself positively focused.
5. No matter how intense the situation, I take the time to do things that make me feel better, such as working out, getting a massage, spending time in nature.
6. I surround myself with supportive people and uplifting materials.
7. When times are tough, I look for any deeper or broader meaning behind the outer circumstances. That helps me keep the situation in perspective and even use it for my own psychological growth.
8. I trust myself to be able to handle whatever comes my way.
If you answered true more often in Set 1 and false more often in Set 2, you may wish to get more support around caring for yourself. Please call if you’d like assistance in exploring this further. 678-395-7922
